Captain Sundae in Holland

I thought once you hit a certain point of quality and flavor with ice cream, everyone was pretty much the same. I was wrong. After 35 years of life, I was surprised and awed by an ice cream place! I had the Salty Dog, which was vanilla ice cream with pretzels, peanut butter cups, whip cream, and hot fudge. It was the best sundae I have ever had. They had so many combinations that I need to go back and try. Well do Captain Sundae, well done!! It also has a little play area for the kids and some fun photo opportunities.

They've got ice cream. It's an ice cream place. Popsicles, slushes, flurries, sundaes, like I said it's an ice cream place. They cost money. I think it's reasonably priced, but I'm honestly not sure. I don't usually price compare my ice cream. The one on Douglas Ave has a small mini golf course, a pirate ship bench, and a human sized wooden captain sundae. President George Bush came there once, but he's not there anymore.

We have a lot of good ice cream joints in Missouri to compare it to but I think Captain Sundae may be one of the best I've ever had. High marks from this ice cream loving family.

Amazing experience, the atmosphere is cheerful and the decor is perfect. The staff are friendly and efficient so the crazy lines move quickly and steadily. Orders are made quickly and accurately and most importantly with quality. Great place to grab ice cream.

This place has the best turtle sundae in existence. The pecans are perfectly roasted and seasoned. The chocolate sauce is derived in a secret laboratory and is always perfect. I will drive 30 minutes to Captain Sundae even though I live across the street from Cone World. If you don't love it then you don't like awesome things. Like my step Father in law says "Everyone can't be the same all the time". You won't be disappointed.

The best place for ice cream lovers! If you can't find something you like here you must be an alien! So many choices, it was hard to pick 1! The Tommy Turtle is what they are known for but everything we had was excellent! The hot fudge was better than any I ever had. You must stop by when in the area, shoot I'd plan a trip just to go here!

Captain Sundae is a summer tradition, especially the Tommy Turtle Sundae. Their soft serve mix is just right. The lines are long but the service is good and fast.

Arguably the best ice cream place in the world. The food here is amazing, setting a standard for ice cream for me that pretty much nothing else can fulfill. The staff here is always friendly, and the environment is lovely. Honestly, even if i lived on the other side of the world, i'd do my best to take at least an annual trip here just to get ice cream from this place.

This place has some great ice cream, but the attitude of the workers could be improved upon.

Very good ice cream spot. I am more of a purist so the excessive number of sundae options versus whipped cream nuts and cherries was a bit intimidating. However, the product is very good. The atmosphere is also very family friendly and definitely worth the stop. I would definitely need to try more of the ice cream sundaes to call this a complete review.

We love this place! After the beach, or just any old lazy afternoon or evening my wife and I like to stop at Captain Sundae's and share a medium Tommy Turtle. It's plenty for the two of us, and delicious, but even better under the trees on the bench-lined walking path, just enjoying the scenery.

A must-try if you are in Holland! The ice cream is delicious, and the atmosphere is upbeat. This location is right next to a mini-golf course. There are many ice cream flavors, toppings, and sundaes to choose from. My personal favorite is the Tommy Turtle. Very kid-friendly. Reasonable prices and portion sizes. Highly recommend!

INCREDIBLE! There are so many choices although I don't know why anyone would want to get anything other than the Tommy Turtle Sundae! If you love pecans ~ this is the sundae for you! FAST service, too! There were incredibly long lines but the wait time was minimal!

Very, very busy place....popular.. always a line!!The road in front is so busy & vehicles travel so fast around the curve that it's always a little dicey getting into & out of their parking lot.

A great little golf course. The nicest mini golf I've been to. Very well kept and cute. We had lots of fun and really enjoyed our lunch and sundaes. Was worth the hour drive.

Wow has this place stood the test of time! I used to come here every summer since '92. I'm really glad I was able to share this place with my gf, which is her first visit to Holland. We loved it so much, we came here two days in a row. I first had the Scallywag S'mores, which basically tasted like a s'mores filled ice cream in every bite. The second day I had Crow's nest, the almonds had the perfect toasted/crunch to them. It tasted like if an Almond Joy was an ice cream.Also, they have Non-dairy chocolate and vanilla ice cream!!! It's soy based, not many places have this. So if you are lactose, there is no excuse!What can I say, I love this place, I used to ride my bike here with my friends back on the days. I'm glad these new generation can enjoy the same vibe I get from Captain Sundae. A bunch stuff had been updated, from the mini golf, pirate ship, to the souvenir shop. The souvenir shop used be a nautical type gift shop.

I'm at a loss for words writing about this establishment. If you were to ask me why the 1980's were so great, I would probably say all the classic movies. Everything on the menu is a classic and you just can't put into words how great The Captain truly is. I'll have a Tommy Turtle Please and Thank You!

Really happy they offer non-dairy options. Great place to stop while camping at Holland State park. Nice patio to eat and watch some Putt-Putt.

This is a MUST GO TO in Holland! The best ice cream you will find around! They have a huge variety of unique flavors (many of which are customer created). The prices can't be beat- 5 of us got ice cream for less than $15! The playground/ship is a great place for kids to burn off the sugar rush. It is also attached to a fun mini golf course (which costs extra). The only down side is that you have to wait outside in long lines to order and there are sometimes a lot of bugs. There is also only outdoor seating. If you have nut allergies make sure to let them know when you order as they can accommodate you!
